John Henry Buchanan, BLUFF CITY

Henry Buchanan, age 96, of Bluff City, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 3, 2013.
He was a son of the late Leonard and Margaret Miller Buchanan and was born on October 24, 1916, in Mitchell County, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Watson Buchanan, in 1996; one brother; and several sisters.
Mr. Buchanan retired from Raytheon as an electrician and was the oldest male member of Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church. He was a WWII Army veteran with Company “C” 405th Infantry. He served in the Netherlands, Germany and France.
Mr. Buchanan is survived by three daughters, Sheila Buchanan, Bluff City, Phyllis Bentley, Bristol, TN, Betty Buchanan, Bluff City; four grandchildren, Joe Strouth and his wife, Tammy, Bluff City, Leona Strouth-Jones, Bristol, TN, Sheena Patrick, Austin, TX, Maria Kiser and her husband, Brian, Hinesville, GA; five great-grandchildren, Austin Thomas, Kimberly Strouth, Aaron Strouth, Lucas Kiser, Leah Kiser; two brothers, Albert Buchanan and his wife, Alma, Ratha Buchanan and his wife, Lois; four sisters, Irene Henderson, Gertrude Frye, Nancy Smith, Jean Church; a special sister-in-law, Marie Glover; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Tetrick Funeral Home-Bluff City Chapel with Pastor Bill Christian and Pastor Jamie Ferguson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM on Saturday prior to the service and at the residence at other times.
The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service at Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors to be accorded by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard Post 6975. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Elbert Nichols, Dr. Richard Rolen and Rusty Verran.
The family wishes to thank Mountain States Home Health and Hospice staff, including Debbie, Jason, Sherry, Roberta and others who came to care for him.
