Shirley Bullock Lowe Nicholson, ELIZABETHTON

Shirley Bullock Lowe Nicholson, 78, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013, in the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
A native of Blackwood, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Clyde Bullock Sr. and Maureen Jones Bullock. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton. Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a retired Telephone Operator with the United Inter Mountain Telephone Company after 35 years of service.
Shirley was a member of the East Side Baptist Church, where she was Treasurer of the Victory Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
She loved music, was a fan of Elvis Presley, loved Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, an avid John Wayne and NCIS fan and loved going to the beach. Shirley never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. Our guardian angel will live in our hearts forever.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Lowe, who died November 8, 1982; and her second husband, Carl F. Nicholson, who died July 5, 1999; by two brothers: Clyde W. Bullock Jr. and Robert Bruce Bullock; and two nephews: Curtis Bullock and Tony Bullock; and also her loving companion, “Nicky.”
Survivors include Two Nieces: Vickie Almaroad and husband, Roy, Kingsport, and Nancy Bullock, Elizabethton; One Nephew: Bobby Bullock and wife, Bobbi, Elizabethton; Three Great Nephews: Christopher & Curtis Bullock (who also were her beloved god sons) and Matthew Almaroad, Bristol; One Great Niece: Maureen Covey, Kingsport; Her Great Great Nephew: Clyde Covey; Her Great Great Niece: Kaylee Bullock; Her Sister-in-Law: Lillian Bullock, Elizabethton.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Dwight Hobbs and Rev. Jeremy Rhoton officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2013, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery.
Music will be provided by Claude & Barbara Duncan and Carolyn Pleasant, Pianist. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. Monday, will be: Sam Rogers, David Honeycutt, Bill Miller, Zach Covey, Bill Puckett, Shona Lowe, Stevie Lowe, Monty Lowe, Ricky Lowe, Raymond Lowe and Calvin Nicholson. Honorary Pallbearers will be her church family and friends.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Staff and Nurses of W 3, Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, for the excellent care that was given to our loved one.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
