Gloria A. Ray, 83, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Born in Alamogordo, New Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Ola Smith Curtis and was raised by her grandparents, Bill and Deckey Smith.
She loved church, playing guitar and singing.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by three husbands: Clifford Rosenbaum, Edgar Miller and Walter Ray; two sons: Timothy Rosenbaum and Roy Eugene Rosenbaum; a niece: Judy Short; grandchild: Jamie Rosenbaum; step-grandchild: Jimbo Shelton; and great grandchild: Rebecca Harris.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons: Teddy Miller and wife, Frances, of Elizabethton, and Billy Rosenbaum and Nancy Wyatt, of Johnson City; step-children: Roger Ray and Reda Ray, both of Johnson City; niece: Susie Fisher and husband, Bill, of NC; grandchildren: Carman Rosenbaum, Wendy Rosenbaum, Amy Rosenbaum, Scotty Rosenbaum, Travis Rosenbaum, Cindy Rosenbaum and Johnny Rosenbaum; step-grandchild: Daniel Ray; three adopted grandchildren: Madison, Amber and Autumn Earp; great grandchildren: Nicolas Rosenbaum, Charles Harris and Bethany Harris.
A Special Thank You is extended to the staff at Hillview Home Health: Judy & Barbara, CNAs: Sue, Audrey, Charity, Brittany, Kerri and Naomi, Special Friend: Megan Lewis, Sycamore Shoals ICU Nursing staff and second and third floor nurses and Blue Ridge Family Physicians nurses and staff.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM Sunday, September 22, 2013, until a Celebration of Life Service at 4:00 PM at Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services, Johnson City. Pastor Kim Casey will officiate. Music is under the direction of Sounds of Victory.
A Graveside service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013, at Washington County Memory Gardens at 12:00 PM.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:30 AM to follow in procession. Pallbearers will be Scotty Earp, Howell Wiseman, Chris Flannery, Charles Harris, Larry Hunter and Boyd Pruitt. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Ronald Blackmore, Dr. Bill Boswell and Buddy Wiseman.
