Anne Askew Smith, ELIZABETHTON

Anne Askew Smith, 77, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013, in the Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
A native of Knoxville, she was a daughter of the late John Bohannon and Mabel Lauritzen Askew. She had lived in Elizabethton since 1971. She was a graduate of Knoxville High School. Mrs. Smith attended West Side Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Sgt. Arvel V. Smith Sr., February 27, 2006; and by a sister: Mary; and a brother: Bruce.
Survivors include Three Sons: A.V. Smith and wife, Sherri, Knoxville, Danny Smith and wife, Phyllis, Elizabethton, and Charlie Smith, Johnson City; Six Grandchildren: Sheana & Kyle Smith, Travis Smith, Matthew Smith, Brhett Smith and Olivia Smith; Two Great Grandchildren: Tristan Wilson and Kaylee Smith; Three Brothers: Robert L. Askew, of Florida, John B. Askew, of Texas, and Wallace “Bud” Askew, of Knoxville; Several loving nieces & nephews, including a special niece and nephew: Becky & Woody Ornduff.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Edwin Talley officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 1:45 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2013, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Music will be provided by Janie Broyles. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday, will be: Travis Smith, Matthew Smith, Brhett Smith, Bob Constantine, Mike Bandera and Alden Duffield.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Robert Walter and the Amedisys Home Health Staff.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
