Mabel G. Carr, age 96, entered into rest on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the Wexford House in Kingsport.
Mabel was a lifelong resident of Blountville and the daughter of the late Rudolph and Malissa Gott. She was a homemaker. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl C. Carr in 2005; brothers: Willard, Roy and Ralph Gott.
Mrs. Carr was a member of Blountville Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Church Circle and the Homemakers Club. She was also a member of the Buffalo Senior Citizens.
Survivors include her sons: Bobby Carr and wife Betty, of Blountville and David Carr and wife Linda of Blountville. Granddaughter, Melissa Joe and husband Patrick of Douglasville, Georgia, along with several nieces and nephews and sisters-in-laws: Lucy Carr, Mary Alice Carr and Vina Gott.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Ike Brighton, officiating. The committal service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden of Love in East Lawn Memorial Park. Everyone is asked to assemble in the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. for the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Hobert Carr, Dennis Houser, Allen Carr, Bill Gott, Johnny Gott, Russell Lambert, Mack Carr, Bill Carr and Kenneth Mann.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blountville Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 424, Blountville, TN 37617 or to the Wexford House, 2421 John B. Dennis Hwy., Kingsport, TN 37660.
