Robert Tipton Sr., JONESBOROUGH

Robert J. Tipton Sr., age 78, of Jonesborough, formerly of Erwin, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital.
Robert was a native of Flag Pond and a son of the late Sam and Princy Tilson Tipton. Robert was a dairy farmer all his life after serving in the U. S. Army. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife: Billie Jo Phillips Tipton and three brothers: Gene, Duane and Dale Tipton.
He is survived by Six daughters: Nancy Maupin, her husband Albert, Johnson City, Marcia Jennings, her husband Kenny, Afton, TN, Tammy Bowen-Welsh, her husband Rick, Pahrump, NV, Sue Arrington, her husband Larry, Greeneville, TN, Chris Tipton, Greeneville, TN, Jo Martin, Greenville, TN. Two Sons: Jack Tipton, Gray, Mike Tipton and Cindy Holly, Unicoi. Two Brothers: Jim Tipton, his wife Alene, Andrews, NC, Lynn Tipton, his wife Dani, Weaverville, NC. Two Sisters: Phyllis Brackins, her husband Leland, Erwin, Hazel Lloyd, her husband Mike, Erwin. Sister-In-Law: Lisa J Tipton, Olympia, WA. Thirty Grandchildren, Fourteen Great-Grandchildren and Several Nieces and Nephews.
The life of Robert Jackson Tipton, Sr., will be remembered and honored in a funeral service at 7 PM, Tuesday, August 20, 2013, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Craig Shelton will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5 PM until service time on Tuesday at Valley Funeral Home.
A graveside service with military honors provided by Tennessee National Guard and U.C.H.S. Jr. ROTC, will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Tilson Family Cemetery. Grandsons and Nephews will serve as Pallbearers, John Maupin, Jeremy Maupin, Jason Maupin, Michael Lee Lloyd, Ben Brackins, Sammy Ledford, Mark Tipton, Eddie Arrington and Albert Maupin.
Those attending the graveside service will meet at Valley Funeral Home at 12:30 on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
A special “Thank You” to all the Doctors and nurses at Franklin Woods Community Hospital for all their loving care given to our father.
A special “thanks” to Albert “Dipstick” Maupin for his loving care.
