Bill Franklin, 67, of Jonesborough, formerly of Appalachia, VA, passed away on Thursday (August 15, 2013) at the home of his daughter in Jonesborough, TN.
He was born and raised in Appalachia, VA and lived in Kingsport, TN and Jonesborough for most of his adult life. He was a self-employed farrier. He was of the Baptist faith. Bill was proud to be a simple man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Mary Virginia (Sneed) Franklin.
Surviving are his daughter, Tanya King and husband, Terry of Jonesborough; grandson, Benjamin King; mother of his daughter, Linda Daniel Franklin of Kingsport, TN; brother, Donnie Franklin and wife, Sandra of Big Stone Gap, VA; an aunt, Minnie Sexton of Kingsport, TN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap, VA.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Bro. John Byington officiating.
Burial will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
