KINGSPORT — E. Dale “Budgie” “U-Dale” Taylor, 74, of Kingsport went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 10th 2013, unexpectedly at his residence.
He was a Carter county native and a son of the late Charles Henry and Pearl Esther Gragg Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a graduate of Happy Valley High School and attended Tennessee Temple University and ETSU. He was retired from CSX Rail Road, and retired from the TSSAA where he officiated football and basketball and was later inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, TN. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Taylor, and grandson, Levi Jamin Taylor (son of Dee Dee Taylor).
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Taylor, Kingsport; Children, Lani Phillips and husband Randy, Johnson City; Dee Dee Taylor, Erwin; Christy Taylor, Unicoi; Kevin Taylor and wife Fernanda, Elizabethton; and Janette Jennings-Taylor (mother of his children), Unicoi. Step son, Victor Johnson and wife Libby, Elizabethton; grandchildren, Ben Phillips, Tiffany Milhorn, Gage Vance and Liam Taylor; step grandchildren, Leslie Johnson and Matt Johnson; Step great granddaughter, Emme Johnson; great grandchildren, Zachary and Nicholas Dykes; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mr. Taylor will be conducted Saturday, August 17th 2013 at 2 PM in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev Jim Chapman and Rev Daniel Wood officiating. The graveside committal will follow in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Friends will be received from 12 Noon to 2 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
