Betty Kidd Gnann, 83, Johnson City, died peacefully Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Gnann was born on July 24, 1930 in Washington County a daughter of the late Gent David and Cora Sue Estep Kidd.
Mrs. Gnann was a long time member of Southside Baptist Church where she served in the Ladies Ministries. After graduating from Sulpher Springs High School in 1948, she worked for Carr Brothers from 1948-1955. She then went to work at General Shale Brick as a Sales person and worked there until her retirement after 37 years. Mrs. Gnann also served as a volunteer in the ICU Waiting Room at Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Gnann lived her life as a lady, a Christian and loved helping others.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gnann was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph H. Gnann, Sr. in 1982; one sister, two half-sisters and two-half brothers; her aunt, Ethel Hurley and first cousins, Howard C. Hurley, Hildred Merritt, Nancy Busler and William H. Hurley, Jr.
Survivors include: a cousin, Dot Allen and husband Ted “whom Mrs. Gnann called her brother,” and Kathy Jean Hammitt; and several other cousins.
Graveside services for Mrs. Betty Kidd Gnann will be held on Saturday morning, August 17, 2013 at 11:00AM in the Onks Cemetery, Jonesborough with Chaplain Ed Talley officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15am for those attending the graveside service. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. James Hanson, Amedisys Hospice for their loving care especially the special Amedisys staff Carmen, Sara, Teresa and Carolyn, a special thanks to Chaplain Dewayne Baird and Ed Talley and special thanks to her caregivers, Mike, Sue and Rita who were with her until the last.
