UNICOI — Mack M. Dugger, Jr., age 84, 115 Ragland Road, Unicoi, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Franciscan Woods Assisted Living Community in Columbus, Georgia.
Mr. Dugger was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County, a son of the late Mack Milton and Mary Lou Miller Dugger. He received his Master’s Degree from the University of Tennessee and was an avid Tennessee football fan.
Mr. Dugger was retired from the United States Army and proudly served in both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Conflict. After retirement from the Army, he worked with the Veteran’s Administration and the Bureau of Land Management.
Mr. Dugger was a charter member of the Erwin Elk’s Lodge #1985 and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Erwin.
Other than parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Hope Charles Dugger; two sisters: Willie Mae Jackson and Helen Gouge.
Mr. Dugger is survived by two nephews: Mack Gouge and wife, Pam, Michael Jackson and wife, Carla; one niece: Suzy Waddell and husband, Steve, all of Columbus, Georgia; two great nephews: Todd Newton and Tony Newton; one great niece: Elaine Jackson; a cousin: Raymond Dugger, Erwin; close friends: Scott and Kathy Charles, Erwin.
Graveside service for Mr. Dugger will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 in Roselawn Memorial Park. Pastor David Crutchfield will officiate. Special music will be provided by Mr. Gary Amos. The Tennessee Honor Guard consisting of Boone Dam VFW Post # 4933 and the Tennessee Army National Guard will honor Mr. Dugger with military rites.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Friday at Erwin Memorial Funeral Home prior to graveside service.
