Barbara Adams, JOHNSON CITY

Published August 13th, 2013 10:07 pm

Barbara Adams, age 84, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Adams was a native of Washington County and a daughter of the late, Barney Hodge and Trula Pickering Hodge Denny. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Herman “Buster” Adams, two sons, Jerry Thomas Adams and Terry Lynn Adams and one brother, Bud Hodge.
She attended Fountain of Life Church where she enjoyed fellowship.
Mrs. Adams started her career at JCPenneys Department Store as a young woman and wore many hats during her tenure there. She mostly worked in human resources and in the office.
Mrs. Adams, being the hard-working soul that she is, went on to a second career as a receptionist at Woodridge Hospital after her retirement at JCPenneys. She was still employed at Woodridge until she went into the hospital with this illness.
Barbara, as she was known to her friends, was a very independent and spirited person. She was also a very social person and loved spending time with people she loved. She shared her wonderful smile with everyone and the twinkle in her eyes sparked when she was having fun with her friends. She loved dining out — especially if she was being served her favorite dish — steak! She was a member of the Ladies of the VFW and a charter member of the “Monday Club” which is a weekly social gathering of friends. Barbara loved her jewelry, “Dancing with the Stars,” and sports — especially basketball.
