W. Edward “Ed” Ferrell, 85, Johnson City, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Ed was born on April 29, 1928 a son of the late Carl and Helen Blevins Ferrell.
Ed was employed by Exxon Dogwood Oil Company for 45 years before retiring in 1995. He was a long time member of Clark Street Baptist Church in Johnson City. He was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed watching his son Randy and daughter Pam play sports. His favorite baseball team was the Atlanta Braves and he rarely missed watching a game. Ed will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ferrell was preceded in death by his brothers, Oscar, John and Harley Ferrell and sister, Francis Campbell.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 65 years, Billie Ferrell; one son, Randy Ferrell; one daughter, Pam Ferrell Leonard; brother, Steve Ferrell and wife Ruth of Pontiac, Michigan; two sisters, Mary Bowman of Butler and Peggy Harrah of Johnson City; sister-in-laws, Margaret Ferrell and Nancy Ferrell, as well several nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Funeral services for Mr. W. Edward “Ed” Ferrell will be held on Monday evening, August 12, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the Morris Baker Funeral Home South Chapel with Pastor Joseph Beaver and Pastor Mike Anglin officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday evening, August 12, 2013 in the Morris Baker Funeral Home South Chapel.
Committal services will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ronald Campbell, Junior Campbell, Jeff Bowman, Claude Terry, Joe Whitehead, Jeff Blackburn, Mike Hyder and Kevin Vannoy. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM Tuesday morning for those attending the committal service.
