Roger Gardner, JOHNSON CITY

Roger A. Gardner, 75, Johnson City, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Born June 12, 1938, in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late Albert and Esther Winters Gardner. Roger was a member of First Christian Church, Johnson City. Mr. Gardner retired as a retail store manager and after retirement was employed by Dykes & Gardner Appraisal Services and also a volunteer with Johnson City Medical Center.
He served as treasurer and a volunteer for the Mended Hearts local chapter for several years. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge 1684 and Mended Hearts, Chapter 259.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Donald E. Gardner; and his sister, Patricia A. Bartlett.
Mr. Gardner was a US Army veteran.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dorothy Ruffino Gardner; a daughter, Cynthia C. Sitz, Angola, IN; two sons, Noel A. Gardner and wife, Jill, Johnson City, and Jeffrey J. Zolnik, Fort Wayne, IN; one sister, Jean T. Alheim; nine grandchildren, Felicia Jelm, Dawn Walden, Charles Thomas, Justin Zolnik, Lynsey Burd, Jonathan Zolnik, Sydney Gardner, Nicholas Gardner and Lauren Gardner; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, Johnson City.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Mr. Steve Hill, Minister, will officiate.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 PM. Pall bearers will be Charles Thomas, Justin Zolnik, Jonathan Zolnik, Nicholas Gardner, David Klima and David Michael King.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mended Hearts Chapter 259, 608 North Hills Drive, Johnson City, TN 37604.
