Christine Whitehead Malone, ELIZABETHTON

Christine Whitehead Malone, 87, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, in the Appalachian Christian Village.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Gertrude Birchfield. Mrs. Malone was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. She was a member of the Valley Forge Christian Church.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Fred Malone, who died January 21, 1995.
Survivors include One Daughter: Kathy Meade, Johnson City; Two Sons & Daughters-In-Law: Ted & Wendy Malone, Gray, and Ronnie & Ruby Malone, Watauga; Five Grandchildren: Billy Malone, New York, Becky Malone, of North Carolina, Joshua Malone, Gray, Justin Eggers, Jonesborough, and Mac Meade, Johnson City; Her Great Grandchildren: Mikaela Marion, Quinn Marion, Carolina Malone, Caleb Malone, Maddie & Miles Meade; Sister: Martha Depue, Elizabethton; One Brother: Junior Birchfield, of Michigan.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013, in the McLaney Cemetery, Watauga, with the Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Burial will follow the service.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Staff of Appalachian Christian Village for the excellent care our mother received.
To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Malone to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, Tenn. 38101-9908.
Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
