Iva Devon Crouch Whaley, age 72, Gray, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the Life Care Center of Gray. Being blind from birth, she closed her eyes in death, to open her eyes in Glory and see her Savior whom she loved dearly.
Iva was a native of Gray but lived most of her life in Nashville with her cousin, Margaret. She also graduated from the Tennessee School for the Blind.
After returning to Gray, she made her home with her very special sister, Sana Mae “Sally” Crouch Russell. She was of the Baptist faith and attended services at Life Care.
Iva was a daughter of the late Landon Sanford Crouch and Ruth Fitzgerald Crouch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hal and Gene Crouch.
Survivors include a sister, Sana Mae “Sally” Crouch Russell, of Gray; a brother, Huvil Crouch and his wife, Susan, of Johnson City; a very special nephew, Jimmy Russell and his wife, Pat, of Gray, whom Iva loved with all of her heart and called him “her baby”; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Iva will be conducted at 7:00 PM Saturday, July 20, 2013, in the Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Depew and Pastor Larry Dugger officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Also other times at the home of Jimmy and Pat Russell, 137 Saylor Road, Gray, TN.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 21, 2013, in the Highlands Cemetery, Jonesborough. Pallbearers will be Sandy, James and Daniel Crouch, Travis and Robby Russell, Chris and Randy Jones and Dean Tucker. Everyone attending this service is asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 PM.
