Erma Jean Smith, ERWIN

Erma Jean Smith, age 81, of Erwin, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013, at Unicoi County Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Washington County and a daughter of the late Sam and Rebecca Plaster Gearhart. Erma was owner of the former Goober’s Restaurant and later was employed by Whites Supermarket.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Robert C. “Goober” Smith; and a sister: Barbara Sullins.
Erma leaves behind: Sons: Lee Smith and his wife, Wanda, of Erwin, Rick Smith, of Erwin; Brother: Larry Gearhart and wife, Nancy, Flag Pond; Great Grandchildren: Leslie Smith and wife, Michelle, Derek Smith and girlfriend, Tammy DeLoach; Several Nieces and Nephews.
The life of Erma Jean Smith will be remembered and honored in a memorial service at 7:00 PM, Friday, July 19, 2013, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Bernie Jones will officiate.
A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 6:00 PM until service time on Friday.
The family would like to offer a special note of appreciation to Center on Aging and Health for the care and assistance they provided to Erma.
