James Bruce Landers, 87, Jonesborough, entered into heaven on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from Asbury Place, after a long brave fight with cancer, and complications of pneumonia.
He was a native of Limestone, TN and the son of the late Tilman and Mary Marie Mitchell Landers.
James was a WWII veteran of the Air Force. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Jonesborough.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son: Timmy Gail Landers; sisters: Martha and Peggy Landers; brother: Carl W. Landers.
James is survived by his loving wife and caretaker of sixty one years: Mona S. Landers; son: Terry B. Landers and wife Brenda, Jonesborough; granddaughter: Terri Brooke Ledford and husband Adam; grandsons: Matthew and Marcus Landers; special great-granddaughter: Summer Ledford, all of Johnson City; three sisters-in-law, two nieces, and two nephews.
The family will greet friends at Tetrick Funeral Services from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on July 16, 2013. Military graveside and committal service will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 PM at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pastor Brian Nulf and Pastor Arnold (Bud) Pate will officiate. Pallbearers will be Matthew Landers, Marcus Landers, Adam Ledford, and other family members and friends. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Randall Matheson, Vernon Shook, Doyle Cook, Bobby Brown, and Bobby Hiner. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be sent to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis TN 38105.
