Luney Drain Jr., JONESBOROUGH

Mr. Luney Edward Drain Jr. 86, Jonesborough, died Saturday July 13, 2013, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native of Washington County and was the son of the late Luney Edward and Eva Pearl Bayless Drain Sr. Mr. Drain was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Bertha Letterman Drain, in 2006; sister, Ruby Drain; brother, Frank Drain; and grandson, Jeff Drain.
He retired from Mead Paper Co. after 35 years of service. Mr. Drain was a veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater and was a Fireman, First Class, aboard the Essex-class carrier USS Bennington. Mr. Drain received the Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal. 
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include four sons, Edward C. Drain and wife, Kathy, Jonesborough, Samuel L. Drain, Jonesborough, James M. Drain, Elizabethton, and David W. Drain, Jonesborough; one sister, Judy Ann Drain Jenkins, Johnson City; seven grandchildren, Tenna Drain, Bryan Barrnett and wife, Wendy, Chad Drain and wife, Lori, Christy Joann Jones, Amaiya Drain, Amir Drain and Caleb Drain; nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Luney Edward Drain Jr. will be conducted Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at 8:00 PM from the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bryant Collins officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home of his son, Edward Drain. 
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday July 17, 2013, from Fairview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Edward Drain, Samuel Drain, James Drain, David Drain, Chad Drain, Bryan Barnett, Brian Cox.
