Constant "Connie" Baucom, NORFOLK, Va.

Published July 10th, 2013 9:49 pm

Constant Louise “Connie” Baucom passed peacefully from this world on July 8.
Born on August 27, 1951, to Ruby and the late Bruce Greene, of Erwin, Tennessee, she was the oldest of seven children. A caretaking spirit, often the hallmark of the oldest child in a family, defined Connie’s life.
A licensed practical nurse by trade, she was well-respected for her professionalism and much appreciated for her compassion and dedication. She was most recently employed at Sentara PACE and earlier at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital. Connie was quick to care and had a great skill at making her patients comfortable.
However, while her professional accomplishments are many, she took the most pride in her wonderful family. She is survived by her daughter, Susie Baisey; son-in-law, Ken Baisey; dear grandson, Tyler; and a host of relatives and friends. Connie was a guiding force in Tyler’s life and he misses Nana profoundly.
Connie was enchanted by the simple things in life, such as collecting shells on her walks on the beaches of the Outer Banks, checking out yard sales and gardening. A perfect day for Connie may well have begun with a fresh pot of coffee, a field of sunflowers and a beautiful sunrise on the beach. She was well known for her delicious cakes that she delighted in baking for so many. Her kindness and warmth will be sorely missed by all that knew her. We take peace in knowing that she now walks with her Savior.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, at Altmeyer Funeral Home Southside Chapel, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach.
The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Norfolk Botanical Gardens or American Heart Association in her memory.
Online condolences may be offered at www.Altmeyer.com.
