Karen Hilling, JOHNSON CITY

Karen Sue Hilling, 66, Johnson City, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at her daughters residence after a valiant battle with cancer.
She was a native of Morgantown, WVA, and the daughter of the late James T. and Gladys Smiles Nicholson. In addition to her parents. she was preceded in death by an infant baby girl.
Karen is survived by her twin sons: Andrew and Timothy; daughters: Tera Lawson, Peggy Hilling, and Gloria Hilling; grandchildren: Brittney Hilling, Lucas Hilling and Ethan Hilling, Brady Hilling, Erin Lucas and Tommy White; brothers and sisters: Ruth Hilling and husband, Steve, Michael Nicholson, Jeff Nicholson, Janet Kennedy, Stephanie Smith, Peggy Summers and Bob McDonald; beloved friend: Audrey Edney, of Elizabethton.
Karen was an oncology nurse for over thirty years and was well known for her compassion and mentoring of co-workers. She was a very loving person. She will be deeply missed but we know she is in God’s care.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to HIMA, Dr. Jaishankar, Whitney Jennifer, Mindy, Faye and all the hospice staff.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, July 8, 2013. in the Sunrise chapel of Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Mark Fowler officiating.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
A Graveside and Committal will follow services on Monday in Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be chosen from family and friends.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Rd., Johnson City TN 37601; or to the charity of your choice.
