Danny Ray, age 46, of Limestone, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at his residence.
He was born in Newport News, Virginia, but lived most of his life in Unicoi County.
Mr. Ray is a son of Bureda Shook Ray and the late Judd Vance Ray.
Danny was a welder and machinist. He loved camping, fishing and being a dad.
Mr. Ray was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
In addition to his father, Danny is preceded in death by his grandmother, Rhoda Shook; and a brother-in-law, Terry Lee Chandler.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Ray leaves behind: Wife: Lisa Chandler Ray, of Limestone; Children: Brianna Lee Baker Ray, of Limestone, Jacob Vance Ray, of Limestone; Brother: Floyd Ray and wife, Debbie, of Erwin; Niece: Mandy Hensley and husband, Dwayne, of Jonesborough; Great Niece: Makayla Hensley, of Jonesborough; Great Nephew: Garrett Hensley, of Jonesborough; Father-in-law: Max Chandler, of Limestone; Mother-in-law: Bobbie Silvers and husband, Vernon, of Limestone; Brothers-in-law: Joe Silvers and wife, Misty, of Limestone, Shelby Silvers, of Limestone; Nephews: Donald and Little Joe; Special Friends: Randy “Cotton” White; and daughter, Lexie, of Erwin; Several Cousins.
A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Valley Funeral Home.
A committal service to honor the life of Danny Ray will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at 2:00 PM at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Eulogies will be provided by family and special friends. Those who wish to attend the committal service are asked to meet at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery by 1:50 PM. Those serving as pallbearers are Randy “Cotton” White, Dwayne Hensley, Garrett Hensley, Joseph Daniel Silvers, Devyn Darnell, Gary Lee Willis and Jimmy Thornberg.
