Peggy McInturff, UNICOI

Peggy M. McInturff, age 76, 200 Seldom Rest Farm Road, Unicoi, passed away peacefully, Friday July 5, 2013, in the presence of her family.
Peggy was born in Washington County, a daughter of the late Willie and Dessie Sauls Morelock. She went on to spend her entire life in Unicoi County after her marriage.
Peggy was a devoted Christian. She currently attends and is a member of Tacoma Church of God. Her church was her life, and Peggy served as the Tacoma church secretary until her retirement. She enjoyed her additional roles as the church organist, choir member, and singing as part of a group on special occasions. Peggy was an active member, and longtime pianist for Unicoi United Methodist Church.
She was an active member of the Unicoi-Erwin Chapter No. 276 Order of the Eastern Star, where she served in many offices, which included Worthy Matron. Peggy was an accomplished seamstress as well as an avid sports fan, and follower of many different sports. Peggy was the secretary, librarian and bookkeeper for the Unicoi County School System for thirty plus years.
Other than her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William “Bill” McInturff, in 1991; very special granddaughter, Lindsey McInturff, in 1993; and two sisters: Wanda Phillips and Mary Ruth Vines.
She is survived by one son, Chuck McInturff and wife, Debi, Unicoi; three daughters: Teresa Doty and husband, Lonnie, and Carolyn Hopson and husband, David, both of Unicoi, Kim Carmichel and husband, Matt, Jonesborough; five grandsons: Matthew Doty and wife, Crystal, Kingsport, Samuel Benjamin Doty, William McInturff and Sam McInturff, all of Unicoi, Joshua Hopson, Nashville; two granddaughters: Taylor Carmichel and Bayleigh Carmichel, both of Jonesborough; one sister, Albania Fox and husband, Jimmy, Wilmington, NC. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Service for Peggy McInturff will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, from the Unicoi Funeral Home chapel. Dr. Darrell Sovine will officiate and special music will be provided by pianist, Patsy Bailey, and soloist, Linda Lyons.
Funeral ceremony of Order of the Eastern Star will be presented by Unicoi- Erwin Chapter No. 276 Order of the Eastern Star. Peggy’s son and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until the funeral service, and at other times after 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the residence.
The committal service will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. in Jones Cemetery, Unicoi. Those attending are asked to meet at the Unicoi Funeral Home at 12:15 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
