Mary Frances "Fran" Deason, JOHNSON CITY

Published July 4th, 2013 9:14 pm

Mary Frances “Fran” Deason, 78, passed away at her home in Johnson City, Tennessee.
She was born in Dora, Alabama, on October 29, 1934 — the younger of two children born to Burgess Ware Johnson and Clifford W. Johnson. After her mother passed away when she was quite young, she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Myrtle and William Scott Carter, whom she fondly called Aunt Myrt and Uncle Carter.
After graduating from Dora High School at the age of 16, she worked for the FBI in Washington, DC, before returning to Birmingham, where she married Richard W. Deason in 1956. They had two children, Anna Deason Chapman, deceased, and Andrea Deason Clements, of Johnson City, Tennessee.
Fran spent most of her adult life as a homemaker, wife, mother and “Memom” to five grandchildren. Her gift was caring for others. She spent many years caring for several different relatives who were ill for long periods of time. Fran loved watching NASCAR, working puzzles and painting. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wellington Deason; daughter, Anna Deason Chapman; and brother, Jerry Mitchell.
Fran is survived by her daughter, Andrea “Andi” Deason Clements and husband, Dale Clements; grandchildren, Tanner Paul Clements and wife, Tiffany Clements, Victoria “Tori” Christian Clements, Timothy Shane Clements, Michael “Tucker” Clements and Kylie Nicole Chapman; great-granddaughter, Eliana “Ellie” Grace Clements, daughter of Tanner and Tiffany; brothers-and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Committal services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 5th, 2013, in Mountain Home National Cemetery with Tanner Clements officiating.
