Mrs. Marie Palmer, age 96, Jonesborough, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013, at the NHC Healthcare of Johnson City.
Mrs. Palmer was born in Tennessee and daughter of the late Gene & Cornelia Cochran Baines.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Palmer was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Palmer; daughter, Loeda Utsman; grandson, Kelly Leonard; brothers, Marvin Baines, Leo Baines, Clifford Baines, Ralph Baines, Delbert Baines, Luther Baines and Parker Baines; and sisters, Bernice Jones and Ethel Holsclaw.
She was a member of Leesburg Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Palmer was a Homemaker and a member of the Burley Bowling League until she was 82 years old. She was also a member of Jonesborough Senior Citizens and loved to play rook and shuffleboard.
Survivors include two daughters, Eva N. Daniels and husband, Jack, Johnson City, and Opal Leonard, Gray; one sister, Edna R. Cox, Jonesborough; son-in-law, Layman Utsman; grandchildren, Butch Collins, Dwayne Leonard, Rod Collins (Karen), Carrie Gunning (David), Cathy Utsman, Tim Daniels, Terry Daniels and Kim Miller (Jason); 12 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Minister Bo Deaton officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Jerry Huskins.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Daniels, Terry Daniels, Rod Collins, Dwayne Leonard, Butch Collins, Dave Gunning and Randy Laws.
