Troy Holcomb, ERWIN

Troy Henry “Pap” Holcomb, age 78, of Erwin, went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, June 29, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Erwin, a son of the late Lee Roy and Amanda Foster Holcomb. Mr. Holcomb was retired from Magnavox Corporation. He was a faithful charter member and deacon of Lower Higgins Creek Church of God. Mr. Holcomb loved woodworking, and to help people who were in need he made many miniature churches and houses to benefit many charities in the area. He loved wildlife and the outdoors. Camping, hunting, and fishing were among his favorite past times.
Other than his parents, Mr. Holcomb was preceded in death by five sisters: Iva Shelton, Clella Edwards, Mabel Harris, Maude Buchanan, Cora Ledford; three infant brothers, one infant sister, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Holcomb is survived by four sisters: Hazel English, Macy Harris, Gladys Lloyd and husband, Reverend Harold Lloyd and Dorothy Lloyd, all of Erwin Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Mr. Holcomb will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from Lower Higgins Creek Church of God. Reverend Darren Shelton, Reverend Jim Metcalf, Reverend Harold Lloyd and Reverend Pete Lloyd will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be nephews and church friends. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at Lower Higgins Creek Church of God.
