Lucy Rasar Peters, ELIZABETHTON

Lucy Rasar Peters, 73, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at her residence after a brief illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Snyder and Mary Buck Rasar. Lucy was a 1957 Graduate of Elizabethton High School. Through the years she had been active in the class reunion activities.
She was a retired Comptroller at Bill Gatton Honda. She was a member of the Carter Christian Church, but attended Memorial Presbyterian Church and Lynn Valley Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Durward R. Peters, who died December 29, 2005; and by a daughter, Lucinda Mae Peters.
Survivors include Two Sons: Franklin L. Peters and wife, Angela, Elizabethton, and Michael D. Peters, Boone, North Carolina; One Daughter: Jill Renee Peters Croley and husband, Dr. Giltz Croley, Concord, North Carolina; Eight Grandchildren: Jason Peters and wife, Erin, Lance Peters, Luke Peters, Weston Peters and wife, Cameron, Meredith Peters Dunning and husband, David, Jordan Peters, Mason Croley and Mallory Croley; One Great Granddaughter: Natalie Peters; One Great Grandson: Oliver Dunning; Two Sisters: Patti Rasar and Susan Reedy, both of Johnson City; One Brother: John Rasar and wife, Marilyn, Kingsport; Several nieces & nephews; A Sister-In-Law: Euvada Peters, Concord, North Carolina.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Ritchie Cemetery. Music will be provided by Mary Roberts and the Lynn Valley Baptist Church Choir. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Dr. Giltz Croley. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Bill Gatton, Mitch Walters, Tracy Bratton and employees and former employees of Bill Gatton Honda, Bill Gentry, the Elizabethton High School Class of 1957 and her “Chicken Footers Group.”
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to her dear friends, Nat & Mattie Payne, and her guardian angel Helen Egli.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence.
