Ralph "Yankee" Yates, PINEY FLATS

PINEY FLATS — Ralph A. “Yankee” Yates, 71, Piney Flats, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center at Mountain Home.
Born on March 21, 1942, he was the son of the late Ralph A. Yates Sr. Mr. Yates worked in the 639th Transportation US Army Reserve in Kingsport and was a Desert Storm Veteran.
He enjoyed traveling, talking to new people and working with the Bristol Honor Guard. He also loved listening to Dean Martin and never met a stranger.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Carmen Yates, Piney Flats; a son, R.J. Yates, Gray; a daughter, Lauren Yates, Raleigh, NC; two brothers, Mike & Anthony Iezzi, Gray; a grandson, Cory Yates; three nieces; and 2 nephews. Special Friends Ralph Thacker, Bill Darnell and Nancy Rachel also survive.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 24, 2013, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Sunset Chapel of Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services, Johnson City.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:00 AM to follow in procession. Pall bearers will be members of the Honor Guard.
