Richard "Rick" McCullough, JOHNSON CITY

Published June 23rd, 2013 9:56 pm

Heaven’s gates opened and the sun shined when our dear loved one entered from his earthly home after an extended illness.
Richard “Rick” A. McCullough, 52, Johnson City, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at his residence. He was a native of Johnson City, and the son of the late Robert “Bob Benedict, Sr. and Amelia McCullough.
Rick was a 1978 graduate of Science Hill High School. After graduation he went to work for his dad at Ram Motor Company in downtown Johnson City. During his early years, in the body shop business, his specialty was Corvettes. After the death of his father, Rick became sole owner and operator of the business. He soon met his soul mate, Jan Miller, and with her by his side, the business grew. They moved Ram Motor Co. to the Bristol Highway, where you can see Corvette Stingray’s, Corvette Sharks, and his old shop painted on the Aquarium Mural in the entry.
Rick was a person who lived life to the fullest, never backing down from a challenge. He loved rebuilding and painting cars, trucks, and motorcycles. He had many dreams which Jan helped to come true. Rick enjoyed everything, riding his Harley, fishing at the beach, boat riding, and even racing cars. He loved to cook. He became a Master of the grill to family and friends. Rick loved big boom fireworks and sadly our 4th of July will never be the same. He was a member of Fountain of Life Church.
Left to mourn his passing is his soul mate: Jan Miller; Adam Miller, whom he thought of as his son; sister: Donna Swartz, Meadowview, VA; brother: Robert “Bob” McCullough, Jr., Elizabethton; extended family: Carl Jones, Tim Jones, Richard Jones, all of Tipton Hill, NC; Randy Jones and wife Paula, Kingsport; special nephew: Ben Jones; special nieces: Katelyn Jones, Lindsey Davis; and many other friends whom he considered family.
A Celebration of Life Service for Rick McCullough will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the Sunrise chapel of Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services with Dr. Vic Young officiating. The family will greet friends from 5:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home and other times at the home.
