R.W. "Bob" Hatcher, ERWIN

R.W. “Bob” Hatcher, age 87, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013, at his residence.
He was a native of Unicoi County and a son of the late George Lee Sr. and Fannie Lasure Hatcher.
Mr. Hatcher served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired after 30 years of service as a Locomotive Engineer for the CSX Railroad.
Bob was a lifelong member of First Christian Church, where he served as the secretary and treasurer of the Everyman’s Sunday School Class for the past 18 years. He was active in the continuing care and maintenance of the Church building for many years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hatcher is preceded in death by brothers, Ed and Alvin “Happy” Hatcher; and sisters, Lois Hatcher, Margie Hawkins, Norma Ingle and Wilma Huskins.
He leaves behind: Wife: Ethel Smith Hatcher, of Erwin; Son: Bobby Hatcher, of Erwin; Brothers: George Hatcher, of Erwin, David Hatcher and wife, Lane, of Winston Salem, NC; Sisters: Betty Frye and husband, Gene, of Erwin, Suzy Hughes and husband, Travis, of Erwin; Grandchildren: Jennifer and Isaiah Beaulieu, of Charlotte, NC, Robert Hatcher and wife, Mallorie, of Johnson City; Great Grandchildren: Londa Rose Hatcher; Special Friends: Gary Bennett, Bernie Cole and Otis Ray; Special Fishing Buddy: Danny Masters; Several Nieces and Nephews.
The life of R.W. “Bob” Hatcher will be remembered and honored in a funeral service to be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2013, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the UCHS J.R. ROTC. Reverend Robert Bess will officiate. Instrumental selections will be provided by David “Sonny” Hatcher on the Harmonica.
