Charles Stophel, ELIZABETHTON

Charles Delane Stophel, 58, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, in the Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Isaac A. and Mable Campbell Stophel. He retired from the East Tennessee Chair Company. He was of the Baptist Faith. Through the years, he has helped many children.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother-in-law and friend, James Brock.
Survivors include his wife: Sandra Smalling Stophel; A daughter & Son-in-law: Amanda & Wendell Baize, of the home; One Grandson: Levi Edward Delane Baize; One Sisters: Frances Guerro and husband, Jessie, Robertstown, Texas; Two Brothers: Sydney Bowers and wife, Mary, Mobile, Alabama, and Millard Bowers and wife, Betty June, Elizabethton; Several nieces & nephews; A special Sister-in-law: Marcella Markland; A Brother-in-law and his wife: Larry & Phyllis Smalling.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brandon Young officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence or the residence of a brother, Millard Bowers.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Staff of Life Care Center, especially Rhonda & Amanda and Dr. Wayne & Patricia Gilbert and his special friend, Jewell Nunley.
It was his wish to be cremated.
