Pansy Shelley, ERWIN

Pansy P, Shelley, age 97, of Erwin, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013, in the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Poplar, NC, but lived most of her life in Unicoi County. Pansy was a daughter of the late Billy and Rebecca Bennett Peterson.
She was a seamstress, quilt maker, loved to garden and cook. Ms. Shelley was a lifetime member of Erwin Church of the Brethern.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, J. Kelcy Shelley; 5 brothers; and 6 sisters.
She leaves behind: Children: Billy Shelley and wife, Charlotte, of Erwin, Shirley Barnett and husband, Oden, of Erwin, Doris Murphy and husband, Ellis, of Unicoi; Sister: Pearlee Chandler, of Poplar, NC; 5 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Great Grandchildren.
The life of Pansy P. Shelley will be remembered and honored in a funeral service to be at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Phil Graeber and Dr. Randy Griffith will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by Libby Hatcher.
A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Valley Funeral Home.
A committal service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Those who will attend are asked to meet at Valley Funeral Home on Thursday by 10:30 AM. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
