Howard Hixson, 82, 402 W. Pine Street, Johnson City passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 in the Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a son of the late Sidney and Evelyn McCracken Hixson.
Mr. Hixson retired from Burlington Industries after 37 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served his country during the Korean War.
Mr. Hixson was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Hixson, and a sister, Geneva Hixson.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne Foster Hixson; a daughter, Tammy Jan Rose and Carl E. Hyatt, of Johnson City; a son, Randall Jay Hixson and his fiancée, Deborah L. Patten, of Jonesborough; five sisters, Loretta Kinley and her husband, Bill, of Jonesborough, Margaret Menchey and Jewell Hixson, both of Johnson City, Betty Daniels and her husband, Lanny, Jonesborough and Janice Holland of Asheville; five brothers, Harry Hixson and his wife, Barbara of Nebraska, Leroy Hixson, Jonesborough, Sidney Hixson, Unicoi, Tony Hixson, Johnson City and Ken Hixson of Chattanooga; three grandchildren, April Dawn Hixson, Jessica Lynn Hixson and Ashley Nichole Rose; eight great-grandchildren, Jordan Nelson, Jalen Pack, Mikenzie Hixson, Autumn Howard, Jaden Garland, Kielie Cable, Brianna Rose and Wyatt Guest; her favorite aunt, Lois Lovegrove of Telford; many nieces and nephews.
The graveside service for Mr. Hixson will be conducted at 2:30 PM Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Boone Dam VFW Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM then proceed to the cemetery for the service.
