Sam Neeley, age 65, of Kingsport, TN, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 in Kingsport, TN.
He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and was the owner of Air Balancing Technology and a former employee of Smith Mechanical Contractors. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Kingsport, and Taylor Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon.
He was a member of Sheetmetal Local 5 and National Environmental Balancing Bureau where he was a certified NEBB Professional. He was a graduate of E.T.S.U.
He was preceded in death by his father: H.P. Neeley; brother-in-law: Larry Collins; and father-in-law: Lester Byrd.
Sam is survived by the love of his life, best friend and wife that he shared of 43 years through his journey of life: Joyce Neeley; Mother: Helen Neeley, and mother-in-law: Edith Byrd, both of Kingsport; Brother: Pat Neeley and special friend and sister-in-law: Shirley, all of Kingsport; and sister: Sue Collins, Summerville, SC; Special niece: Sharon Neeley DeBord and husband, T.J., and their children: Jordan, Seth and Amanda; Special nephew: Christopher Neeley and wife: Misty, and their son: Blake, all of Kingsport; Niece: Lisa Swanson and husband: Dennis, and their children: D.J. and Brenden, of Las Vegas, NV, Georgette Berry and husband, Justin, and their children: James and Nathan, Summerville, SC.; special relatives: Donna Glass, Hope Deary, Sheila Dingus and honorary grandson: Jake Dingus; his faithful employees that he called “His Boys,” Larry Watts, Dustin and Dennis Bowling, Dan Page and Matt Winstead; Special friends: Amber and Bobby Wilson, Kingsport; Brother-in-law: Garry Byrd and wife: Bev, of Kingsport; special nephew Brett Byrd and daughters: Lauren and Sophia, whom so lovingly called him “Papaw Uncle Sam”; Nephews: Greg, Cam, Jared and Brad; niece: Michelle; Brother-in-law: Mike Byrd and wife: Ann, of Blue Ridge, VA, and their children: Pennie, Kim, Melissa, of Kingsport, Michael Scott Byrd, of Blue Ridge, VA.
Sam will be remembered for his special generosity and love for helping others and his humor and love of life. He enjoyed his weekends of enjoyment at South Holston Lake and his friends and neighbors at Waters Edge.
Sam would want all that knew him to remember to love life to the fullest, do what you can early in life while you are young enough and well enough to enjoy and to be faithful and trust God’s will for sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory and to choose being kind to all in life for it will come back to you. Joyce, I will love you forever and always for your love and devotion.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport, TN.
A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Dustin Bowling and Rev. Shannon Powers officiating. Music will be provided by: Larry and Sue Watts and Dylan Crisp.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Larry Watts, Bobby Wilson, Randall Ketron, Dennis Bowling, Dan Page and Matt Winstead.
