J.D. Coomer, Johnson City

J.D. Coomer, age 70, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the Appalachian Christian Village following an extended illness.
A native of Lee County, Virginia, he was the son of the late C.B and Mary Fields Coomer. Mr. Coomer retired from Raytheon Corporation after 20 years of employment, and enjoyed spending time at turkey shoots. He and his wife attended Powder Branch Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coomer was preceded in death by two sons, J.D Coomer, Jr. and Timothy Coomer; one sister, Ethel Ann Darnell.
His wife Gwenda Coomer of Johnson City survives.
The graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Gene Cornett officiating. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM Wednesday. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.appfh.net.
