Bessie Brummitt, ELIZABETHTON

Mrs. Bessie L. Brummitt, 81, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Noah and Nora Nichols Jenkins and was born in Washington County, although she lived in Carter County most of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Brummitt Jr., on July 20, 1986; a son, Larry Dean Brummitt; a sister, Mary Louise Austin; and two brothers, Eugene Jenkins and Noah Jenkins Jr.
Mrs. Brummitt was retired from Magnavox in Johnson City. She was a member of Green Mountain Free Will Baptist Church, but had attended Friendship Free Will Baptist Church for the last six or seven years.
She loved quilting and other crafts, including ceramics.
She is survived by a daughter, Julia Osborne and her husband, Rev. Danny Osborne, Hampton; a son, Rev. Dexter Brummitt and his wife, Phyllis, Elizabethton; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Brummitt, Unicoi; grandchildren, John Brummitt and his wife, Ashley, Jared Brummitt and his wife, Bethany, all of Nashville, Eric Brummitt, Justin Brummitt, both of Unicoi, Greg Osborne, Johnson City, Sabrina Mahler and her husband, Craig, Carthage, TN, Laura Osborne, Hampton, Rebecca Osborne, Hampton, and her fiancé, Jake Oliver, Elizabethton; sisters, Elva “Hez” Hunt and her husband, Argil, Johnson City, Christine Riddle, Johnson City, Pauline Gallamore and her husband, B.J., Paris, TN, and Ann Glover, Holland, MI. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, June 22, 2012, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, or at her home at other times.
The funeral service for Mrs. Brummitt will be conducted on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dexter Brummitt and Rev. Danny Osborne officiating. Music will be provided by the family.
Interment will follow the funeral service in the Lyons Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and other family members. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Green Mountain Free Will Baptist and Friendship Free Will Baptist Churches.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Mountain States Hospice for all the love and care shown to Mrs. Brummitt and the family during her illness.
