Mrs. Mary Jean Tipton, age 73, of Jonesborough, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Tipton was a native of Bakersville, N.C. She was a daughter of the late Simon and Bonnie Honeycutt Street.
Mrs. Tipton retired from Washington County Health Department after eighteen years of service. She was a member of Liberty Fellowship Church.
Survivors include her loving husband of fifty years, Tony Tipton, of the home; two sons, Mark Tipton and his wife, Phyllis, of Cary, N.C., and Todd Tipton and his wife, Cindy, of Elizabethton; one sister, Helen Pauline Ledford, and her husband, Charles, of Piney Flats; one grandson, John Tipton, Elizabethton; and one granddaughter, Angela Tipton, Cary, N.C.
Jean was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was unflagging in service to her Lord and her church. She adored flowers, especially ones picked for her by Tony.
