Ruth Parsons, KNOXVILLE

RICHLANDS, Va. — Ruth Miller Parsons, age 96, formerly of Knoxville, Tennessee was welcomed by her Lord and Savior following a lengthy illness on Monday, June 11, 2012 at Golden Age Retirement Center in Richlands Virginia.
Born on November 12, 1915 in Jefferson City, TN, she was the daughter of the late Floyd L. and Martha Ellen Miller.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, William Jackson (Jack) Parsons, an infant daughter Rebecca Susan, three brothers, Leon, Fred and Paul Miller all of Jefferson City TN and her sister with whom she shared a home after the death of their husbands, Mary Louise Ryba of Knoxville.
Survivors include a son William J. (Bill) Parsons JR and wife Frances of Roswell, GA. Grandson William J. Parsons III and wife Kathleen, great grandchildren Will and Caroline of Roswell GA. Daughter Linda P. Hubbard and husband Ron of Johnson City, TN, granddaughter Holly H. Heine of New Orleans, great grandchildren Emily and Gus, Son-in-Law The Reverend A.J. Heine of Metarie, Louisiana, granddaughter Hayden H. Weirich and husband Darren of Rockwall, Texas, great grandson Otto, granddaughter Amy H. Runkel of Little Rock, Arkansas, great granddaughter Ellison, granddaughter Ellen H. Meister and husband Jon of Johnson City TN great grandchildren Haley, Drew and Riley; daughter Lisa P. Mohon and husband Philip, granddaughter Susan, great grandsons Anderson and Ely, granddaughter Laura, great grandsons William and Peyton, granddaughter Emily Cole and husband Chad all of Richlands, Virginia.
Ruth and Jack lived their entire married life in Knoxville where they were both faithful members of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. Ruth taught Sunday school for over 35 years. She did not work after they were married except as a loving wife and mother who always put her family first she was Mamaw or “Little Mamaw” to young and old. She was indeed loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Colonial Hill Retirement Center in Johnson City TN and The Golden Age Retirement Center in Richlands VA for the excellent and loving care they took of our mother and grandmother these past eight years.
A visitation will be conducted beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel followed by a graveside service at 12:00 noon at Lynnhurst Cemetery officiated by Dr. Don Olive.
