Nell Gage Garland, BAKERSVILLE, N.C.

BAKERSVILLE, N.C. — Nell Gage Garland, “Ninnie”, went to be with our Lord June 10, 2012 at Mission Hospital, Asheville.
Nell has left her earthly sorrows behind and is reaping her heavenly blessings, rejoicing in the reunion, with her husband of 69 years, “Pops” Burl Garland, who she loved so much.
She was the oldest and longest living member of Mine Creek Baptist Church, Bakersville, NC.
She enjoyed living in Florida in the winter months after retirement from Baxter Laboratories. She also enjoyed her flowers and gardening.
She was the daughter of Arnold and Bessie Gage. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Garland and Brother Arthur Gage, Spartanburg, SC.
She leaves a long legacy of love including three children, Daughter, Jean Garland McCourry and husband Paul, Bakersville, NC, Son, Roger Garland and wife Cindy, Bakersville, NC and Daughter, Anne Hughes and husband Haynes, Johnson City, TN. Five grandchildren, Toni McCourry Medders, NC, Shannon McCourry and wife Gina, Bakersville, NC, Jennifer Garland Miller and husband Kurt, Johnson City, TN, Stephanie Hughes Walters and husband Mark, Harrisburg, NC, Stephen Hughes and wife Jennifer, Delmar, MD. Seven great-grandchildren, Zachary Medders, Legend and Marley McCourry, Kylie and Jackson Miller, Leanna and Davin Hughes, and her Sister, Eloise Gouge, Bakersville, NC.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 2:00PM in the Mine Creek Baptist Church in Bakersville, NC. with Mark McKinney officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Mine Creek Cemetery.
Henline-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the Garland family.
