ERWIN — Anthony Craig Smith, age 39, Eustice Road, Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Friday, May 25, 2012, at his home.
He was born July 28, 1972 in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Craig became a Christian at an early age and attended North Red Bank Baptist Church. He was an avid Tennessee Volunteer fan and loved camping and fishing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Lester McNabb, Roy Smith, Elizabeth Smith, and Alvin Casey.
Craig is survived by four sons: Hayden, Christian, Ethan, and Therion; one daughter: Paige; one grandson: Jaxxton; His mother, with whom he made his home, Clarice McNabb; father: Archie Smith; one brother: Eric Smith and wife Kim; one sister: Heather Green and husband Kevin, all of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Maternal grandmother, Trula B. Casey, Erwin; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
Funeral service for Craig Smith will be held at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Steve Wilson and Pastor Roger Redmond will officiate.
Special music will be provided by The Brown Family and Angel Shelton.
Active pallbearers will be Chris Vinson, Shane Vinson, Justin Welch, Steve Conner, Spencer Crawford, Stephen Wilson, Riley Thurman, and Alvin Casey, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jed Casey, Charles Casey, Ted Hensley, T.J. Crawford, Dustin Casey, and Josh Casey.
The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon prior to the funeral service between the hours of 12:00 P.M. noon and 2:30 P.M.
Interment will follow in Bumpass Cove Cemetery.
Family and friends are asked to wear their favorite Tennessee Volunteer clothing to the visitation and funeral service in honor of Craig’s passion for the Vols.
