Margaret Barlow, GRAY

Margaret Thompson Barlow, age 82, of 446 Pickens Bridge Rd, Gray, went home to be with the Lord at the Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. A lifelong native of Johnson City, she was the daughter of the late Zeak and Hattie Godsey Burchfield. Margaret was a member of Sacred Cross Assembly of God, Bristol, and was a loving wife and mother. She was truly a gift from God, for she was a friend to everybody. Our loss is truly Heavens gain. In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Eugene Thompson; one daughter, Peggy Jean Simmons; one brother, Robert Burchfield; one grandson, James Lee Thompson; one granddaughter, Carolyn Thompson.
Survivors include her husband, Junior Barlow, Gray; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ken Thompson and wife Debbie, Johnson City, Rev. James Thompson and wife Pam, Richmond, VA, John Thompson, and wife Debbie, Clayton, NC, Rev. Tony Thompson, and wife Debbie, Johnson City; three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis Johnson and husband, Randy, Clayton, NC, Linda Hankal, Virginia Beach, VA, Debbie Reed, and husband Robert, Melbourne, FL. Twenty Grandchildren, Twenty-Seven Great Grandchildren, and one Great Great Grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Margaret will be conducted on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Tony Thompson and Rev. James Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 23 at Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home to travel in procession to the cemetery at 1:25 P.M. Wednesday.
