David Shirley, JOHNSON CITY

David Shirley, 62, of Johnson City, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012, at his residence.
A native of Lebanon, KY, he was the son of the late Elvin and Alma Matherly Shirley.
Mr. Shirley was a member of College Park Freewill Baptist Church. He was a very loving, compassionate, giving man, extremely humble and full of faith. David enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music, fishing and going to church. He loved his work as he spent over forty years as a paint contractor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a two sisters: Mary Rose and Fannie Lou.
David is survived by his loving wife of forty three years: Shirley Franklin Shirley, daughter: Jennifer Ward and husband, Jonathan, son: David Wayne Shirley, all of Johnson City; sisters: Ruby Washburn and husband, Joe, Johnson City, Faye Hicks and husband, Raymond, Limestone; brother: Wayne Shirley and wife, Mary, Johnson City; grandchildren: Amber Ward and IreLynn Ward; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service for David Shirley will be conducted at 8:00 PM Monday, May 21, 2012, in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with Reverend Matthew Guy and Reverend Robert Watson officiating.
The family will greet friends in the funeral home chapel from 6:00 PM till the service hour.
A Graveside and Committal service will be held at 11:00 AM in Roselawn Memorial Park on Tuesday. Active pallbearers will be chosen from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are the men of College Park Freewill Baptist Church. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM.
The Shirley family would like to offer a special Thank You to Dr. Charles Famoyin and the McLeod Cancer Center, and also to Mountain States Hospice.
