Hubert Paul Hodge, Blountville

BLOUNTVILLE — Hubert Paul Hodge, 70, passed away unexpectedly May 5, 2012 at his residence.
Hubert was the son of the late John Frank and Margaret Danford Farmer Hodge. He was preceded in death by a sister, Scottie Sue. Hubert graduated from Crossnore High School in 1959, attended ETSU, served in the US Army as an Intelligence Specialist, graduated Magna Cum Laude in Business Management from Steed College, attended Purdue University, and taught at Northeast State College. Hubert was a member and a retiree of Pipe Fitters Local #538 in Johnson City, TN, having served as an Instructor for United Association and an Apprentice Coordinator for trade union courses in Johnson City. Hubert worked and served in supervision for Bristol Metals and energy companies: TVA, Alleghany Power, Duke Energy, American Electric Power (AEP) and Dominion Power. Hubert was a Mason at Roan Mountain Lodge #566, F&AM. Hubert was a member of Shell Creek Christian Church and attended Blountville Christian Church. Hubert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family and will be deeply missed. An avid sports lover, he enjoyed entertaining family and friends and loved the holidays.
Survivors: Wife of 44-1/2 years, Marie Jarrett Hodge Sons: Jeffrey Paul and wife Lisa of Raleigh, NC, Hubert Scott and wife Pat of Blountville, TN Grandchildren: Emily, Matthew, Hannah of Raleigh, NC, and Brandon of Blountville, TN Sister: Brenda and husband Harry Vicars of Elizabethton, TN Nieces: Rachel Aldridge and husband Jim of Pensacola, Fl, Stephanie and husband Andy Kraus of Blountville, TN, Great Nieces: Macy Aldridge and Abby Kraus Great Nephew: Mac Kraus.
The funeral service for Mr. Hodge will be held at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Dwight Shaffer and Lincoln Shelton officiating. Music will be performed by Jo Shaffer and Matthew Hodge, Violinist.
The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM Tuesday, prior to the funeral service.
The committal service and interment will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, in Johnson Roan View Cemetery, Hwy 19E, Roan Mountain, TN, with Dr. Harry Vicars officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Harold Dean Jarrett, Jimmy Hughes, Michael Hughes, Jon Buck, Andy Kraus and Ronnie Maness. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Hughes, Jerry Green, Wayne Cantrell, Tommy Jarrett, Herbert Buck, Carroll Ellis and Jim Storie.
