Betty Jo May Arnold, ELIZABETHTON

Betty Jo May Arnold, 69, Elizabethton passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Frank J. and Hester Jane Peters May. Betty Jo was a 1960 graduate of Elizabethton High School and received her LPN degree from Walters State Community College, Morristown. She was a retired employee of Carter County Memorial Hospital. She was a former employee of Appalachian Christian Village. She was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Terry Arnold.
Survivors include her husband of fifty one years Harry Ray Arnold. Two Sons: Rhudy Ray Arnold and his special friend Tammy Fowler, Elizabethton and George Anthony Arnold. Two Granddaughters: Markita Heaton and husband James, Elizabethton and Kayla Estep, two grandsons, Jerry and Derick Hampton, Elizabethton, and one great-granddaughter. Five Sisters: Ruth Pilk and husband Robert, Mary Oliver, Christine Swain and husband J.C., Charlotte Smith and Bonnie Carr & Her husband Joe, all of Elizabethton . Two Brothers: Alvin May and wife Phyllis and Frank May, Jr & wife Pat, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces & nephews.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim “Butch” Stout officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Knoxville Office, 900 E. Hill Avenue, Suite 240, Knoxville, Tenn. 37915.
