Bill Tarr, GRAY

Bill T. Tarr, 73, Gray TN., passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 at The Wexford House, Kingsport TN.
A native of Dante, Virginia he was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Townes Tarr. Bill served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Raytheon and was of the Christian faith. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward “Bud” Tarr; and an aunt, Nancy Penland.
He leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Bobby Sullins Jr., Elizabethton, TN; a sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Jim Salyer, Gallipolis, OH; a granddaughter, Carlee Rose Sullins, Elizabethton; and two cousins, Dr. Furman “Teckie” Penland and wife Jeanie, Asheville, NC, and William “Bubby” Towns III and wife Linda, Gray, TN. Several very special friends, nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with Dr. Joe Sorah officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 PM till the service hour.
A Military Committal Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, VA. Active pallbearers are Bubby Towns, Teckie Penland, Dana Barker, Tom Wiseman and Clarke Saunders. Everyone is asked to meet the family at the cemetery on Wednesday at 1:50 PM.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dana Barker and Clarke and Morgan Saunders for their friendship, and to the nursing staffs at The Wexford House, Kingsport TN, Select Specialty Hospital, Bristol TN and the ICU at Johnson City Medical Center for the care and love shown to Mr. Tarr and his entire family.
