Charles Ellis, JOHNSON CITY

Charles J. Ellis, 65, 234 Weaver Hill Rd., Johnson City, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center unexpectedly following a brief illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County and a son of the late Claude and Katie Eva Ellis.
Mr. Ellis worked at Empire Furniture for 20 years and then was supervisor of security and maintenance at the Mall at Johnson City.
He enjoyed playing basketball, softball, horseshoes, reading and watching TV, especially the “Duke” and Clint Eastwood.
Mr. Ellis was of the Baptist faith.
He was a Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Lilly Bell Ellis.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sabrina Ellis; his son, Eddie Huffman and wife, Tracie, Bluff City; two daughters, Katrina Knight and husband, Wayne, and Cristy Ellis and fiancé, Wes Barnette, all of Johnson City; two brothers, Chad Ellis, Stoney Creek, and Randy Ellis and wife, Lisa, Roan Mountain; two grandsons, David and Noah Knight, Johnson City; three special in-laws, Danny Greene and wife, Sandy, Buddy Greene and wife, Kathy, and Cindy Lane and husband, Bob.
The funeral service for will be conducted Sunday, April 29, 2012, at 4:00 PM from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Street officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Ellis, Blake Ellis, Danny Greene, Bud Greene, Derek Greene, Houston Greene Sr. and Bob Lane
The family will receive friends Sunday prior to the service from 2:00-4:00 PM in the East Parlor of the funeral home and other times at the residence of a daughter Katrina Knight, 113 W. Locust St., Johnson City.
