Stanley Deakins, JOHNSON CITY

Stanley Hughes Deakins, 95, 544 Lee Circle, Johnson City, died Friday, April 27, 2012, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Deakins was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County.
He was a son of the late William Jacob and Cora E. Brumit Deakins.
Mr. Deakins was a graduate of Boones Creek High School.
He retired from Tennessee Eastman Co. in 1981 as a chemical operator following forty-five years of service.
Mr. Deakins was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, where he was a former Steward, and a member of the Johnson City Moose Club and Elks Club.
He enjoyed bowling, once bowling a perfect game of three hundred, fishing, traveling, history, theater and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Deakins was preceded in death by a grandson, Ronnie Lee Deakins; a granddaughter, Rebecca Elaine Deakins;, a sister, Nannie Kate Barnes; and a son-in-law, Chester Booher.
He is survived by seven children, Marianna Deakins Booher, Bristol, Karen Deakins Randall and husband, Charlie, Crossville, Fred Deakins and wife, Shirley, Limestone, Patty Deakins Altman and husband, Jerry, Sulphur Springs, Donnie H. Deakins and wife, Sherry, Ligonier, PA, James Rodney Deakins and wife, Bernice, Charleston, WV, and Wayne Deakins and special friend, Wanda Rose, Johnson City; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; his best pal, Dana Ramsey; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, April 29, 2012, at 3:00 P.M. from First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Garland Thayer officiating.
The graveside committal service will be held Monday, April 30, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Dr. Carlos Floresguerra. Those planning to attend are to meet at the cemetery Monday by 10:50 A.M.
The family will receive friends Sunday prior to the service from 1:00-3:00 P.M in the parlor of the church.
