Fleet Garland, Shady Valley

SHADY VALLEY — Fleet Garland, age 92, of Shady Valley, TN, passed away Thursday morning, April 19, 2012, in Mountain City Care Center.
He was born January 15, 1920, in Johnson County to the late Robert Barry Garland and Emma Grace Rambo Garland. He was a member of Shady Valley Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Wilson Garland, in 2006; two sisters: Vena Richardson and Georgia Myers; and four brothers: Hugh Garland, Ambrose Garland, Doag Garland and Herman Garland.
Survivors include: one daughter: Brenda Kay Blondell and husband, James, of Shady Valley, TN; three sons: James Lester Garland and wife, Linda, of Shady Valley, TN, Charles Edward Garland and wife, Jean, of Arcadia, FL, and Dewey Harold Garland and wife, Idoma, of Butler, TN; one sister: Ruth Opal Campbell, of Erwin, TN; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Fleet Garland will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012, from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Stout officiating. Music will be under the direction of Faye Campbell.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
Graveside service and interment will be held in Shady Valley Memorial Gardens on Monday, April 23, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Active pallbearers will be Richard Shaffer, Chad Guy, Ray Wilson, Chris Wilson, Tom Garland, Lonnie Long, Tony Long, Alan Jackson and Robert Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of Shady Valley Fire Department, Members of Johnson County Rescue Squad, Bill Jackson and Men of Shady Valley Baptist Church.
