Lou Ella Layne, Erwin

ERWIN — Lou Ella Layne, age 72, of Erwin, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Clem and Mary Lloyd Shell. Mrs. Layne retired from Industrial Garment/Red Cap Industries after 35 years of service. She attended Canah Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
She loved Blue Grass Music, dancing, and going on bus tours. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved being surrounded by family and friends.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by a step-son, Paul Douglas Layne; Sister, Patsy Blankenship; Niece, Tammy Blankenship; and nephew, Buddy Blankenship.
She is survived by: Her husband: Millard “Bird” Layne; Step Son: Kevin and Tammy Layne, of Erwin; Step Daughters: Linda Lou and Sam Fields, of Pritchard, WVA, Janet Lee and Roger Cox, of Warren, OH, Debrah Sue and Sonny Miller, of Mansfield, OH; Brother: Doran Lee and Pat Shell, of Erwin; Beloved Nieces and Nephews: Brenda Jarrett, Bonnie Gilbert, Christine Galloway, Tanya McInturff, Josh Hull, Scott Galloway, Jake Hull, Chelsea Gilbert, Darius Shell and Missy McCurry.
Funeral services for Lou Ella Layne will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012, at 8:00 PM in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Chris Gilbert, Minister, will officiate.
Visitation with the family will be on Monday from 6:00 PM until service time at Valley Funeral Home.
The committal service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Garland Cemetery. Those attending the committal service will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Chris Lewis, Josh Hull, Scott Galloway, Jake Hull, Bud Blankenship, and Greg McInturff. Roger Hull will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.
