Geraldine James, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, left us on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at her residence.
Geraldine was born March 22, 1918, in the small town of Ravenden Springs, Arkansas, where she retired after teaching third grade for 35 years.
After the passing of her husband of 49 years, Remmel, she moved to Jonesborough in 1985, where she quickly adapted and loved her new “hometown” and new friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesborough.
Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Patsy Stinebaugh, of Knoxville; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Robert King, of Jonesborough; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Stinebaugh, of Washington, DC; her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Jessica King, of Arlington, Texas; light-of-her-life great-grandson, Dylan King; sister Ruba Hickman, of Los Lunas, New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at a later date in Ravenden Springs, Arkansas.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Mountain States Hospice, Lakebridge Health Care Center and to friends Kathie Dameron and Regina Lane, who assisted in the care of Geraldine.
In lieu of flowers, family request that donations in memory of Geraldine James be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee, 127 Dillion Ct., Johnson City, Tn. 37604; or St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
