Lola B. Miller Hale, Gray

Lola B. Miller Hale, age 87 of Gray, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Appalachian Christian Village in Johnson City after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Alleghany Co, Maryland and was a daughter of the late Lillie Mae Shepherd and George Harness Miller. She served in the United States Air Guard (WAC) during World War II, worked as an Inspector with North Electric Co and was a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. She was a wonderful cook and one of her greatest joys was to cook for her family and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles R. “Pete” Hale; one step grandson, Christopher Cox; sisters, Mabel Warnick, Evelyn Armstrong, Pearl Skidmore, Juanita Tinsley, Genevieve Emmerick, Ada Wolford, Alice Skidmore and Gertrude Miller; brothers, Ferman Miller, Lee Miller, Thomas Miller; son-in-law, Richard Shadden.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell Hale (Kay), Dale Hale (Angie); daughter, Sherry Shadden; brothers, Ernest F. Miller of Kingsport and James H. Miller of Mineral Ridge, Ohio; grandchildren Rhonda Widner, Stephanie Roark (Jon), Bo Shadden, Beth Page, Jimmy Hale (Christina), Chuck Hale, Lorrie Hale and Aaron Cox (Kelly); eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to express a special Thank You to the nurses and staff of Appalachian Christian Village Skilled Care for their unbelievable care and concern.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hale, Bo Shadden, Jon Roark, Tim Miller, Jerry Lovegrove, Terry Hale, Alvin Saylor and Aaron Cox. Honorary pallbearers are Mac Marker and Chuck Hale.
The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon 1 – 3 p.m. at Buffalo Baptist Church and funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Jody Jenkins and Dr. Gene Lasley officiating. Burial services will follow in the Gray Cemetery. The family will also receive friends anytime at the home of Sherry Shadden, 954 Shadden Road, Gray, TN.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Boones Creek Christian Church Building Fund or Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church Bus Ministry.
